Oscar Noms! NOM! NOM! NOM!

January 25, 2011

Alright CBC readers, it’s your first CBC Oscar Season and the Nominations were announced this morning. As per usual with award Noms, here’s a list below with my choice marked by a * and my prediction for actual winner marked by a #, with some kooky commentary in bold.

First, some GLARING omissions:

1) No Nomination for Julianne Moore in either actress category??? I mean, this wouldn’t be so odd if Annette Benning and Mark Ruffalo weren’t both nominated for The Kids Are Alright. That was an ensemble film people, she did just as great a job as they did.

2) No Nomination for Christopher Nolan for Best Director for Inception? Ooooh ….here go hell come.

3) I love that Michelle Williams was nominated but I also hate it when one half of an acting team is recognized and the other ignored. Blue Valentine is really a film where two actors worked together to make their performances better (and on that I’ll tell you more Friday). I still heart you Ryan Gosling!

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESSAs usual, this one’s tough and unpredictable. The two Fighter gals could split their votes and it could go to the little True Grit gal.
