Emmy Nominations 2011: Complete List and Predictions

July 14, 2011

Greetings CBC readers! The Emmy Nominations were announced this morning and here they be!  As usual, I’ve underlined my desired winner and starred my predictions (and some I jsut didn’t have a clue so chose nothing.) First some notes:

-What?? Zero love for The Walking Dead. That show was buzzing with Emmy talk when it was airing. (It did grab a special effects nom). I guess that’s what happens when you air like 9 months before the Nominations. Still LAME!

-I’m an livid…LIVID…over the continuous Fringe neglect, especially the John Noble neglect. When will these things start acknowledging Science Fiction?? In its snub article, EW writes, “Emmy voters, not sure you know this, but three years ago J.J. Abrams rustled up a great bunch of writers and created one of the best sci-fi dramas since The X-Files. Can we encourage you to Netflix it sometime this decade?” with one commenter adding, “Anna Torv played two versions of a character, each pretending to be the other, and Leonard Nimoy- what else does she have to do to get nominated?”  Not to mention John Noble has been playing two of the most amazing characters for the past two seasons. Srsly.

-The only nom Games of Thrones seemed to have missed was Outstanding Original Main Title Music. Which is BONK BONK. That score is gorgeous. But Camelot got it instead? Huh…I guess if you gotta give ’em one…

-Dudes, Glee is having some problems. The sophomore slump was evident over their second season, leading to limited noms. Their problems? 1) Uninteresting story lines (aside from Kurt and his bully issues). 2) Way to much auto-tuning, singer-of-the-week and “we’re just doing it for the itunes sales” attitude. 3) There’s that whole Chord Overstreet drama. 4) They just announced that its 3 main characters would not be coming back after they “graduate” off the show. Thus, no nominations for Lea Michele or Matthew Morrison this year. Are we looking at the downfall of Glee you guys?

OUTSTANDING DRAMA-This is kind of tough. I think BE will take it, but the two big HBO shows might work against each other and split the vote, and then Mad Men will take it once again.
