About

Greetings and welcome to Critic Behind the Curtain, a new blog devoted to my musings on movies, theater, books, music, TV and the arts in general!

Some background info for you: for the past few years I have been writing the fabulous www.OMGWTFLost.com, a blog analyzing, critiquing, and fawning over the hit show Lost. Now that Lost is over, I find myself in definite blogging and entertainment writing withdrawal. I thought to myself, “Self, you are a total nerd when it comes to many entertainment things. You should start a grander, all encompassing entertainment blog.” Thus Critic Behind the Curtain was born.

The “Behind the Curtain” aspect of the blog stems from the fact that I, too, am in the show biz industry, not just a commentator or audience member.  My involvement is mostly as an actor, but I’m getting more and more involved with the writing side of the biz. So occasionally, posts (hopefully hilarious and/or crazy) will include stories from my various acting or writing adventures. In general, you will be getting reviews, thoughts and critiques from a perspective of someone involved in the industry (and therefore probably a little biased and/or jaded, heh).

The “Behind the Curtain” term was also taken from my favorite piece of art of all time. You’re all familiar with this famous film quote:

“Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!”

That’s right folks, I’m a Wizard of Oz dork. Nope I’m not a gay man obsessed with Judy (more on my background in a bit). I am just in love with it and it’s various incarnations. After all, The Wizard of Oz is a story that has infiltrated Literature, Film, TV, Theater, Music and other Arts, so it’s a perfect piece of  art to represent the all-inclusiveness that this blog will aim for.

Since I am in the biz, I’m choosing to remain somewhat anonymous, though here’s my background: I’m female, in my mid-20s, and live in New York City, capital of show biz (suck it LA). In West Philadelphia I was born an raised, and I attended college in Boston. I graduated  in 2005 with a degree in Theater and Cinema Studies. For the past 5 years in addition to acting, I’ve worked for a few different prominent theater companies, production companies and agencies here in NYC. I live with my future hubs (UPDATE: Hubs and I were married 10/17/10. He will henceforth be referred to as Hubs in this blog), and our 2 cats (named after alcohols Smauel L. Adams and Jackie P. Daniels).

Well that’s all folks. Enjoy!!!
